Here is a brief description of our wonderful quilting heritage of the Dresden Plate design.
The Dresden Plate quilt pattern emerged in the early 1900s, inspired by the ornate, scalloped edges of Dresden style porcelain from Germany. Quilters first created fan shaped blocks in the late 1800s, but the full circular Dresden Plate became especially popular in the 1920s and 1930s, often made with colorful feed sack fabrics. Its' signature petal shaped wedges and appliquéd center have made it one of the most recognizable and enduring designs in American quilting.
See you there. Sally
